Autonomous Cars

About autonomous cars, if one of them is swerving out of control,  would it be more logical to program for it to crash into an SUV or a Mini Cooper? Of course you would think SUV because it would be safer but, some would argue that it turns it into a targeting mechanism for anybody that owns an SUV. In my opinion though I would have to say that it would be better to still crash into the SUV. The SUV would be safer because it is harder to knock it off balance and minimal damage would be caused for the SUV. If the car were to crash into the mini cooper though I feel as though they would both keep skidding and end up causing more problems. So in turn I believe that an SUV would be safer.
On to another dilemma now. Same situation, but instead 2 motorcyclists, and one has a helmet but the other doesn't. In my opinion I don't think it matters. If you are sitting on a motorcyclist and you get hit while going at a high enough speed, your chances of survival are minimal. So in my opinion is does not matter because of the facts of how low the chances of survival are.
Another topic is if instead of the car targeting a certain vehicle, if it should just randomly choose one, like a random number generator. In my opinion this is the right way to go. This is because in a real car crash then a human would never be able to analyze and think out the situation enough to decide what car to crash into. I would have to agree with this and say that the car should randomly crash into one. It makes it seem as though its not targeting one of them so that people don't feel like they are being targeted when they see an autonomous car.
Lastly, is the driver liable for any damage done to other cars. I would have to say yes for this. Firstly, i would assume that since its autonomous, it would need more frequent maintenance checkups so that would mean that the car would most likely be in an accident because of not have a maintenance checkup. The problem most likely could have been stopped if there would have been an evaluation of the vehicle. So I would most likely say that the owner would be very liable for any damage that is caused. If there are no frequent checkups that are required, then I would say that the owner is no longer liable though.

Now time for a third update! So for the research portion of this I am completely done. I am just adding a bit more info here and there and expanding and explaining some more ideas that I have. I am also trying to add interactive ideas to the whole presentation. My goal as of right now though is to add a bit more interactive things for the whole class to participation in. As of right now though that is my only goal and I will most likely be able to complete it very soon. So thats basically it for now!

Hello! Time for another passion project update! So I was going pretty good on y passion project and then I couldn't find anything else on my source so I went for a long search for more good sources and I didn't find anything until the end of last Friday during class. So for the next few Fridays I hope that that I will be able to use this source for quite a bit. After I run out of info on this source though I plan on starting to make my presentation and piece it together. That's really all for now though!

So recently, I had started a passion project that talks about strange and unknown drugs that are just as, if not more, dangerous than the common drugs. At this 2 week mark of my project, I have researched 7 different dangerous drugs that are very unknown to the public. SO far not really any obstacles have occurred but I still anticipate finding out about more drugs. So far everything is looking so good though. That's basically it for  now!!!

In my Rogate class we have been doing passion projects. We have hit our halfway point and I am here to say my progress so far.
So far I have gotten halfway done with my first topic. Just recently had I decided to add a second topic to it. Both have been very intriguing and interesting.
I have had very few obstacles in my path other than the fact that it is the internet and has false information.

Grades? What are they? What is their purpose? Why do we need them?

The purpose of grades is to inform society of how you are doing intellect wise. It sets a bar for you and your standards. If you can not reach that bar you will be punished in someway.

I would rate the current grading system a 5 out of 10. Unlike standards-based grading, it does not tell you any areas to improve on. It just tells you what grade you had gotten for that class. Standards-based grading does not tell you your grade but, it tells you how much you understand that concept. It rates it from a scale of 1-4 for proficiency.

I think the accuracy of knowledge is not very good for traditional grading. Before the extra credit, the tests don't really show how much they know. I could know allot about the topic but just not show it.There have been times where I have taken a test unprepared but, I still got a good grade. There is something teachers do that is called,"Falsifying grades." An example of this is when teachers say to bring in a tissue box for 3 extra credit points on a big test. This boosts their grade when they could of failed that test so, it does not properly display intelligence.

In my opinion we should transfer to standards-based grading. It lets you know what exactly could be improved on. For example in reading you could have to work on persuasive essays. That would tell your parents to help you out every time you have a persuasive essay.

School so Far

So, well, life is going great. 8th grade has been fun so far and I have kept old friends and made 2 or 3 new ones. I have nothing really to complain about in my life right now. One thing keeping me going even if I am having a bad day is my family. They are always there for me when I need it the most. I just want to have them always be there and help me. I hope the school year is always this great.  Batman signing off.

In my interpretation of the Giver, Jonas is still alive after the ending. In my eyes Jonas seeing the house was basically the memory of that leaving him as he left the farthest boundary from the community. When he fainted or closed his eyes he was fainting because of the lost memory. A little while later, a group of natives(or Indians) had found Gabe and Jonas. They then took the two children into their village. Jonas after re-awakening, had such a big chunk of memory lost that all of his memory was lost. Gabe just grew up from then on. It may sound a little far fetched but i still belive that Jonas and Gabe are alive.

Music’s influence on Teen Culture

Music, a way for people to express themselves. This can turn into something very bad. All it could take is just one simple song to change someone’s life. Many rappers can emit a bad influence that can ruin some teenager’s lives. They also can emit the fact of new items or stores.

The fact that people may repeat in steps of some rappers are very bad. For example some people at a young age may start smoking. This can ruin reputations and hopes as a good future. It can also turn them from the right direction into the pits.

This can also emit a good attitude too. For example it can tell people of let’s say, new uggs. This can tell people that are a fan of uggs that there is a new pair. This can increase the buyer productivity of those uggs.

As you may see, music can be both good and bad at times. From emitting bad influence to telling of a new product. It can range from helping someone’s life to destroying it.

My 20% project is about the history of lacrosse and how to make a lacrosse shaft. I want to so this because I am very intrigued in the sport and would like to learn more about it.I mainly want to know is how lacrosse had originated. I need :

  1. 10 bamboo poles
  2. A carving knife
  3. Flexible wood(for the head)
  4. String
  5. A way to put my brand onto the stick
My plan is to first come up with a way to carve my pole and make it be aerodynamic. After that I will try my hardest to carve a head and if I cant I will have to buy one myself. After that I will come up with an emblem for my brand and put it on the stick someway.

              What I learned throughout 2012

In 2012 I learned that in order to amount to something great you must train and get better a  using your skills. For example I had tried out for an advanced lacrosse team and made it. They only had one complaint about the way I had used my stick skills. From now until the first practice been training and getting better with it.
As a matter of fact, my resolution is to get better with my stick skills. I am practicing with my stick rolls and ball hawking players passes. So far I have gotten better at ball hawking but, I still need better rolls. It is hard to stick with but, you just have to persist and it will soon get easier. It takes a while to get used to New Year resolutions but after a while it gets easier.

Hello everybody! Today is going to be more of a serious post. Also, please look at the post below this one if you haven't yet. To start off for today you will be hearing about the kind of learner I am. I had taken two tests- the Howard Gardner and Anthony Gregorc test. For both I had gotten different results. On the Gardner I was told that I was a Logical Mathematical, Musical, and a Interpersonal learner. For the Gregorc test I was told that I was Concrete Random. In the Gardener it had basically told me I learn best by music, math, and by working in groups. For the Gregorc, Concrete Random means that I learn best by, solving problems and playing games. Basically it is more of an interactive approach. From this it has the potential to help me study. I can use one of these ideas to help me with quizzes. I wonder how Alexander Graham Bell, Einstein, and Adrian Peterson learned. To start Adrian Peterson must be a Bodily Kinesthetic and Concrete random learner. Alexander was probably a logical mathematical and Abstract Sequential learner. Einstein was probably a logical mathematical and Abstract sequential too. As you can see many people learn in many different writing stiles.
I commented on Christina's blog.

OK, to start off this will be a very long post.Just stay tuned because it gets exciting. To start off I will do a post at the end of every weekend called the weekend buzz. It will either be about myself or you guys. You can email me at DarienChismar@gmail.com. Here we go with the very first buzz.
Weekend Buzz 1: This weekend had many ups and downs. I'm going to start with good then say the bad to make you be miserable for the rest of the week:). Sorry, I don't really mean that. The good news was it was my dad's birthday. YEAH! Good thing it wasn't spent in the emergency room.
Yes, I was almost sent to the emergency room on the night of 9/22.It all started by riding my go kart up and down the street. My dad wanted to ride it and after he was done said it was a bit too slow. He wanted to fix it and needed light so, I went inside and grabbed my light sword(a cheap plastic thing) to help him. He fixed it and I went up in front of the go kart to see if there was a bolt missing by using my light sword . I realized there wasn't and just stood there. My dad turned it on and immediately the light turns on and the engine revs as it starts coming to me at high speed. My dad had managed to get a grip but it had quickly slipped away. I successfully get out of the way and then it turns right to me. It pins me on the front and then my back goes through bushes and then hits my bike. Instantly I fall to the ground and feel a sting in my left thigh. It had ran it over. The moment I can I get up and start to wearily walk away. I stop dead as I feel the intense pain hit me. My dad escorts me to the house into my room. We look at the damage and I was luckey to only have many bruises and a few scrapes on my feet. Also, the reason that I had gotten up right after I was hit was because something my mom had told me. It was called " Fight or Flight". It means that when your body gets hurt you either stay and fight or you run away and take flight.
Now I find two things very fun in this. First off, my dad showed me the skidmarks on the driveway from this. You sees the tracks go straight and randomly turn right to where I was standing. Aparently my go kart is possessed!Second thing I found funny is that I had held on to my lightsword through out the whole entire catashtrophie. I had only realized it was still in my hand when my dad had told me to drop. Okay everybody, that was the first weekly buzz hoped that you enjoyed it . Also, don't forget to give your friends my URL. That all for now Folks.

OK, This is the very first update. To start every couple days I will be adding a joke. Today is going to have the very first one. Here goes everything.        JOKE 1:Luke, who lived in a small town, was teased everywhere he went as he had a completely bald head! Having put up with it for years, he decided to would not take it any more. So he climbed a tall tower and shouted for everyone to hear: "I am not bald, it just so happens that I'm taller than my hair!"

In case some of you don't know , this is my first time ever blogging. Just let me know if you have any compliments or complaints . Okay so to start I recently had two soccer games. For those of you who don't know I play defense. Well lets start on a positive note, first game we demolished 5-0. Next game though we had sadly lost 6-1. It would be 6-0 if my friend Ethan Shaw didn't have an amazing headder into a goal. Also, I can't forget the fact that I will ost every other day or every two days. Finnaly, don't forget to look at my " list of random people I know who have blogs". Well that is it for now.
